The purpose of Spring Break is to let loose, get a little wild, and have a wicked crazy good time right? Spring Break 2011 is something you'll want to remember for the rest of your life! When you arrive in PCB you'll be tempted to party like a rockstar as soon as your feet hit the sand, but what locals know that breakers don't is the "BEACH EFFECT." After spending the day in the sun, running around on the sand and in and out of the salty water... dancing on the stage, or trying your luck at some crazy fun contests... you're probably going to be wicked tired!
You can avoid missing the first night out by doing a little pre-planning for your day of "pre-gaming." First of all, SUNSCREEN! Looking like a lobster at the club later that night is not attractive to begin with, but nothing will make you feel more run-down than turning yourself into BIG RED. Seriously simple to do, just make sure you get a few coats of sunscreen on throughout the day and you should be good to go!
FOOD!
I know that taking time out to eat might not seem important – especially on your first day... it could save your first night out! Your body needs energy; you can't expect your body to be all amped up for a big night out if you've spent all your energy on the beach and at the pool without re-fueling – and no, a liquid diet won't cut it... Grab a burger or a pizza or something, you'll need it! Make sure you get plenty of food each day and you'll have plenty of energy to go all day - and all night long!
WATER!
Dehydration is another one of those pesky little things that will make you feel like crap, and it's another one of those things that is amplified by being on the beach – without you realizing it! Think about it, you're in the sun running around and dancing, sweating a little perhaps... the saltwater will pull hydration right out of you... and for those of you over 21 - if you've had a few adult beverages on top of it all... you're just asking for a MASSIVE headache if you don't suck down some H2O!
SLEEP!
Keep in mind; you're going to be here for a few days... you will need sleep! If you get a little rest each day you should be able to enjoy your ENTIRE spring break! Maybe get some food and watch a few bad reality shows or something – just relax for an hour or two before you head out for the night... and you're not going to miss anything if you sleep in! I've seen breakers on the beach before 8 am! You don't have to get up for class, sleep in a little! There will be plenty of daytime left!! Maybe start the day by laying out, just relax and enjoy the sun, save the running circles with your head on a baseball bat for a little later in the afternoon perhaps... Just keep it simple – get some rest allow your body to recoup a little!
Simple stuff really, eat food, drink water, get rest, and watch out for sunburn and you should be good to go for your entire spring break! Don't let the beach effect run you down, make the most of Spring Break 2011!
